Digital Footprint: The Renaissance of IT Waste
In our modern society, digital technology is omnipresent. Every day, billions of data are created, modified, exchanged, but also deleted. This digital waste, often invisible to our eyes, takes up virtual space and sometimes consumes considerable energy. While our ecological awareness pushes us to recycle our physical waste, we often forget these digital residues which, although dematerialized, have a real impact on our environment.
The artist, through his innovative approach, seeks to raise public awareness of this often overlooked issue. Rather than letting this digital waste disappear into oblivion, it collects it directly at the source: our computer trash. These abandoned fragments, the result of our daily activities, are then compressed and transformed, giving life to a work of art.
Using a robot to paint this waste on a steel plate symbolizes the fusion between art, technology and the environment. Each painted pixel is a reminder of wasted energy, but also a celebration of art’s capacity to transform and sublimate.
Through this work, the artist invites us to reflect on our relationship with digital technology and the environmental impact of our actions, while demonstrating that even in the most unexpected corners of our technology, beauty can emerge .
